How to use this calculator

Choose your income type
Select the type of income you receive: salary, interest, dividends, or professional income. Each type has a different TDS rate under the Income Tax Act 2025.
-
Enter your annual income
Type your estimated gross annual income in rupees. For salary, this is your gross salary before any deductions. For interest or professional income, this is the total receipts for the year.
-
Confirm your PAN status
Select whether you have submitted your PAN to the deductor. Without PAN, TDS is deducted at a higher rate — typically 20% instead of the normal rate.
-
Read your TDS estimate
Results show your total tax, any Rebate 87A waiver, the TDS amount that will be deducted, and the average TDS rate applied. The net amount you receive is after TDS.
Frequently asked questions
What is TDS?
TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) is tax that your employer, bank, or client deducts from your income before paying you. The deductor deposits it with the government and issues you a TDS certificate (Form 16 or 16A).
What TDS rate applies to my income?
Rates differ by income type: salary uses section 192, interest from deposits uses 194A, dividends use 194, and professional income uses 194J. The rate also depends on your income slab and whether you have submitted your PAN. Check the official TDS rate chart at incometax.gov.in for your exact rate.
What happens if I do not have a PAN?
Without a PAN, the deductor must deduct tax at 20% or the applicable rate, whichever is higher. You cannot claim a lower TDS rate without PAN and Form 13 (lower TDS certificate) from the Income Tax Department.
How do I claim a TDS refund?
If your total tax liability is lower than the TDS deducted, file your ITR to claim a refund. The TDS deducted by all deductors appears in your Form 26AS. If TDS exceeds your actual tax, the excess is refunded after processing.
