How to Apply for the HDFC Indian Oil Credit Card
The HDFC Indian Oil Credit Card is a lifetime-free co-branded fuel card for Indian Oil customers. You earn 5% cashback on fuel at IOCL pumps, 1% fuel surcharge waiver, and 2 reward points per ₹150 on all other retail. A ₹500 milestone voucher is added on ₹50,000 quarterly spend. The card is best for 4-wheeler owners who fill fuel at IOCL regularly.
Why this matters
If you spend ₹5,000 a month on IOCL fuel, the 5% cashback gives you ₹250 a month. That is ₹3,000 a year, plus the ₹500 quarterly milestone voucher. The card costs nothing to hold.
Why this card
The HDFC Indian Oil card is free for life. There is no joining fee, no annual fee, and no spend target to waive it. It earns 5% back on IOCL fuel — the highest fuel cashback rate among lifetime-free cards in India.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Filling fuel at non-IOCL pumps — The 5% cashback only applies at IOCL pumps. Other oil companies earn 0%.
- Exceeding the per-transaction cap — The ₹100 per-transaction cap means transactions above ₹2,000 earn less than 5%. Split large fills into smaller ones under ₹2,000.
- Missing the monthly cap — The ₹1,000 per month cap resets on the first of each month. Track it in SmartHub.
Pro tips
- Only fill at IOCL pumps — This maximises the 5% cashback rate.
- Split large fuel transactions — Keep each transaction below ₹2,000 to get the full 5%.
- Track your monthly cap in SmartHub — Once you hit ₹1,000 in cashback, switch to another card for the rest of the month.
- Pair with HDFC Millennia for online shopping — The Indian Oil card is for fuel only. Use Millennia for everything else.
