Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card: Is the ₹500 Annual Fee Worth It?
The Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card pays for its ₹500 yearly fee if you spend at least ₹982 a month on Flipkart. At 5% unlimited cashback, ₹982 monthly gives ₹589 in annual cashback. That fully covers the ₹500 fee plus 18% GST.
If you spend ₹5,000 a month on Flipkart, you earn ₹3,000 in gross annual cashback. After the fee, your net gain is ₹2,411.
The short answer
Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card is an entry-level co-branded cashback card for regular Flipkart shoppers. The joining fee is ₹500 and the yearly renewal fee is ₹500 (plus 18% GST, totalling ₹588.82). Sometimes Axis Bank offers it free in the first year or with a ₹500 Flipkart voucher on your first use.
From year two, the card gives 5% unlimited cashback on Flipkart and Cleartrip, 4% unlimited cashback on preferred partners (Swiggy, Uber, PVR INOX, Cult.fit, and Tata 1mg), and 1% flat cashback on all other eligible buys.
The card’s best feature is automatic monthly statement credit. Earned cashback goes straight to your card bill each month. There are no claim forms and no redemption fees. But Axis Bank sets the annual fee waiver at a steep ₹3,50,000 yearly spend. And the free airport lounge benefit is gone for good.
Data verified: 30 September 2026, against Axis Bank’s official schedule of charges and Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card Most Important Terms and Conditions (MITC).
What the card costs
Axis Bank maintains a standard schedule of fees and penalties for the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card:
| Fee Head | Amount | Waiver Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Joining Fee | ₹500 + 18% GST (total ₹588.82) | Frequently waived promotionally or offset by ₹500 welcome voucher |
| Annual Renewal Fee | ₹500 + 18% GST (total ₹588.82) | 100% waived on annual retail spends of ₹3,50,000+ in preceding membership year |
| Fuel Surcharge Waiver | 1% waiver (transactions ₹400–₹4,000) | Capped at ₹400 per statement cycle across all fuel pumps (GST not refunded) |
| Domestic Lounge Access | Nil (0 visits) | Discontinued permanently by Axis Bank |
| Foreign Currency Markup | 3.50% + GST | Standard rate (uneconomical for international retail or foreign travel) |
| Cashback Redemption Fee | ₹0 | Free automatic monthly credit directly to primary statement balance |
| Finance Charge (Interest) | 3.60% per month (52.86% per annum) | Applies to unpaid revolving balances, late payments, and cash advances |
| Late Payment Fee | Up to ₹1,300 + GST | Nil for balance up to ₹500; tiered up to ₹1,300 for outstanding above ₹50,000 |
| Add-On Cards | Lifetime free (₹0) | Available for immediate family members aged 18 and above |
Because the card has no lounge access or milestone gifts, the math is simple. Does your Flipkart and partner spending exceed the ₹589 annual cost? If yes, the card is worth it.
What the card earns: cashback tiers and exclusions
The Flipkart Axis card has three earning tiers. None have a monthly cap.
-
5% Unlimited Cashback on Flipkart & Cleartrip: All eligible buys on the Flipkart website and app earn 5%. So do Cleartrip flights and hotels. Unlike many rival cards that cap online cashback at ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 a month, Flipkart Axis has no cap here.
-
4% Unlimited Cashback on Preferred Merchants: You earn 4% on these partners:
- Swiggy (food, Dineout, Instamart)
- Uber (rides across India)
- PVR INOX (movie tickets)
- Cult.fit (gym and health)
- Tata 1mg (pharmacy and health)
-
1% Unlimited Cashback on General Retail: All other eligible online and offline buys earn 1%.
-
0% Excluded Categories: These earn nothing:
- Fuel buys (a 1% surcharge waiver applies instead)
- Wallet loads (MCC 6540)
- Rent pays (MCC 6513)
- Govt services and tax pays (MCC 9399, 9311)
- School and college fee portals (MCC 8211, 8220, 8241, 8244, 8249, 8299)
- Insurance premium pays (MCC 6300)
- Jewellery and precious metals (MCC 5094, 5944)
- Cash advances, balance transfers, and EMI conversions
The Myntra change: why it earns 1.5% or 1%, not 5%
When the Flipkart Axis card launched, Myntra was in the 5% tier. It has since been removed. Myntra buys now earn 1% to 1.5% depending on promo cycles. If Myntra is your main shop, consider HDFC Swiggy or SBI Cashback instead.

The ₹3,50,000 fee waiver hurdle: why you should ignore it
Axis Bank sets the annual fee waiver for the Flipkart Axis card at ₹3,50,000 per membership year. That is ₹29,167 a month on average.
This is high compared to other entry-level cards:
- HDFC Millennia: ₹1,00,000 yearly spend
- Standard Chartered Smart: ₹1,20,000 yearly spend
- Cashback SBI Card: ₹2,00,000 yearly spend
- Flipkart Axis: ₹3,50,000 yearly spend
The trap of chasing the waiver
Trying to spend ₹3,50,000 on the Flipkart Axis card just to save the ₹589 fee is a bad move:
- If you spend ₹3,50,000 on 1% general retail, you earn ₹3,500 but save ₹589. Net gain from the fee waiver: ₹3,500.
- If you put that same ₹3,50,000 on a card giving 1.5% or 2%, you earn ₹5,250 to ₹7,000.
- Chasing the waiver on 1% categories costs you over ₹1,500 in missed rewards.
A smarter approach: treat the ₹589 fee as a fixed cost. If your Flipkart and partner spending gives you ₹2,500+ a year in cashback, the card is worth it. Hit the waiver or not.
The break-even calculation
Does paying the ₹588.82 yearly cost (₹500 fee + 18% GST) make sense? Here is the spending needed to break even on each tier.
Monthly break-even spend by category
- Only Flipkart (5% cashback):
₹588.82 ÷ 0.05 = ₹11,776.40 a year (or ₹981.37 a month).
Spend just ₹982 a month on Flipkart and you recover the full annual fee. Every rupee above ₹982 is pure gain. - Only Preferred Partners (4% cashback):
₹588.82 ÷ 0.04 = ₹14,720.50 a year (or ₹1,226.71 a month).
Spend ₹1,227 a month on Swiggy, Uber, PVR INOX, Cult.fit, and Tata 1mg to recover the fee. - Only General Retail (1% cashback):
₹588.82 ÷ 0.01 = ₹58,882.00 a year (or ₹4,906.83 a month).
Spend ₹4,907 a month on general retail to cover the fee.

Net annual return across spender profiles
The table below shows realistic returns for three typical households:
| Spender Profile | Monthly Flipkart Spend (5%) | Monthly Partners Spend (4%) | Monthly General Spend (1%) | Total Annual Spend | Gross Annual Cashback | Annual Fee (incl. 18% GST) | Net Annual Profit | Effective Return |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light Shopper | ₹2,500 / mo | ₹1,500 / mo | ₹3,000 / mo | ₹84,000 | ₹2,580 | ₹589 | +₹1,991 | 2.37% |
| Moderate Shopper | ₹7,500 / mo | ₹4,000 / mo | ₹6,000 / mo | ₹2,10,000 | ₹7,140 | ₹589 | +₹6,551 | 3.12% |
| Power Shopper | ₹20,000 / mo | ₹8,000 / mo | ₹12,000 / mo | ₹4,80,000 | ₹17,280 | Waived (₹0)* | +₹17,280 | 3.60% |
*In the Power Shopper profile, total annual retail spending exceeds ₹3,50,000, waiving the ₹589 renewal charge completely.
Even the Light Shopper (₹2,500 a month on Flipkart, ₹1,500 on Swiggy and Uber) earns ₹1,991 net profit after paying the ₹589 fee. Moderate spenders earn over ₹6,500. Because there is no monthly cap on the 5% tier, big electronics buys during the Big Billion Days sale can cover years of fees in one transaction.
Automatic statement credit: no-fuss advantage
The Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card has a simple redemption system. Other bank reward programmes add friction:
- Many charge ₹99 + GST every time you redeem.
- Some need you to build up a minimum balance first. Standard Chartered Smart needs ₹2,500 before you can cash out.
- Some co-branded programmes lock rewards to a digital wallet or store credit that expires.
The Flipkart Axis card does none of that. It converts 100% of your earned cashback into a direct bill credit. Each month, your cashback reduces what you owe. There is no minimum, no expiry, and no fee.

Winner by use case:
Flipkart Axis wins for people who spend ₹3,000+ a month on Flipkart, Cleartrip, Swiggy, and Uber. It gives unlimited 5% with no monthly cap and no redemption steps.
Amazon Pay ICICI wins for Amazon Prime members who want a lifetime-free card with no annual fee and no waiver pressure.
Cashback SBI Card wins for online shoppers who spread spend across many sites (Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra, Nykaa, Swiggy, Zomato) and want flat 5% everywhere.
HDFC Millennia wins for people who shop on both Amazon and Flipkart, can hit the ₹1,00,000 waiver bar, and want domestic lounge access.
Practical caveats and fine print
Before you apply, know these limits:
-
No Lounge Access: Axis Bank removed complimentary airport lounge visits from this card. If lounge access matters to you, pair this card with a travel card.
-
Flipkart Gold and Vouchers Earn 0%: Buying gift cards, Flipkart vouchers, or gold or silver on Flipkart does not earn 5% cashback. These buys earn 0%.
-
Cleartrip Convenience Fees Are Excluded: Cleartrip bookings earn 5%, but the convenience fees that airlines and Cleartrip charge do not earn cashback.
-
High Interest Charges: If you carry a balance, interest is 3.60% per month (52.86% per year). Paying only the minimum will erase all your cashback gains. Always pay your full bill before the due date.
The verdict: should you pay the ₹500 annual fee?
You should apply if:
- You spend at least ₹1,000 a month on Flipkart (or book flights via Cleartrip).
- You often use Swiggy, Uber, or Tata 1mg. The 4% partner tier gives you unlimited cashback on these.
- You buy electronics or appliances on Flipkart during festival sales. The uncapped 5% is best for big seasonal buys.
- You want automatic monthly statement credits, not reward points or vouchers.
- You want a simple entry-level card with Axis Bank. The income bar is low.
You should skip if:
- You mostly shop on Amazon India. The lifetime-free Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card is better and has no fee.
- You spread your online buys across many sites (Ajio, Myntra, Tata CLiQ, Nykaa). The Cashback SBI Card gives 5% on almost all online sites.
- You need airport lounge access. The Flipkart Axis gives zero visits. Consider HDFC Millennia or a travel card instead.
- Your total online buy is under ₹500 a month. At that level, the ₹589 fee is more than your cashback.
Frequently asked questions
What is the exact break-even spend for the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card?
The break-even spend is ₹982 per month (₹11,777 annually) on Flipkart or Cleartrip. At 5% cashback, spending ₹11,777 generates ₹588.85, completely offsetting the ₹500 annual renewal fee plus 18% GST (₹588.82). If spent on preferred 4% partners (Swiggy, Uber, PVR INOX, Tata 1mg), the break-even spend is ₹1,227 per month (₹14,721 annually).
How is cashback credited on the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card?
Cashback goes to your card bill automatically each month. No need to convert points, file claims, or pay fees. The cashback shows as a credit on your statement and cuts what you owe.
Does the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card have a monthly cashback cap?
No. Unlike rivals that cap monthly earnings at ₹1,000 or ₹1,500, the Flipkart Axis card has no cap on the 5%, 4%, or 1% tiers. There is no ceiling on what you can earn in a month or a year.
Is the ₹3,50,000 annual fee waiver spend worth chasing?
No. Spending ₹3,50,000 a year (₹29,167 a month) just to save the ₹589 fee is a bad deal. Putting ₹3,50,000 on 1% categories to save ₹589 means you earn less than if you used a better card. The Flipkart Axis easily pays for itself as long as your Flipkart spend exceeds ₹982 a month.
Does the Flipkart Axis Credit Card still offer complimentary airport lounge access?
No. Axis Bank stopped complimentary domestic lounge access on this card. If lounge access matters, look at HDFC Millennia, ICICI Sapphiro, or a dedicated travel card.
